The city is designed by someone. It is funded by another. But it is built by workers. In the end, every structure will be remembered by either the designer or the builder. No one knows or cares about the people who worked backstage, who starved to meet the deadlines, or who died on the site while building it.

In this picture by Ajeesh Puthiyadath, the two workers who are seen carrying a board on their shoulders, appear to carry the whole city on the board. With careful juxtaposition and alignment, and with a striking composition, he has made a remarkable image charged with meaning. The photograph is a celebration of human labor as seen from a proletarian viewpoint.
